Transducing Empathy

“‘Empathy’ comes into being through a déclic, a kind of gearing action. With it, the inner life derives a pendant to the element of shock in sense perception. (Empathy is a synchronization, in the intimate sense.)”

Walter Benjamin, Arcades, from the section “Idleness”, p. 804.

dance #24

6:30 p.m. A 5 minute dance in the study. Stepping into the space of another. Turning and drawing energy upwards. Drawing feeling and sensation in. The dance ends with an upswell of sensation. Swelling my body with feeling.

Alice wants to dance, but walks away when my movements take me elsewhere.

Cold, cold night. Temperature falling quickly. I can feel the cold seeping in. -9 degrees Celsius and falling.
