On Alignment

Miro reads, Natasha dances

dance #30

9:30 p.m. A 20 minute dance in the living room after a very fine meal we cooked together. Miro reading while I danced.  “Teaching Alignment: From a Mechanical Model to a Dynamic Systems One” by Glenna Batson. From The Body Electric: Evolving Practices in Dance Training by Melanie Bales and Rebecca Nettl-Fiol.

Miro’s voice is rythmic. Playful, trying on different voices. The text is technical, philosophical. Alignment. Cartesian body. Body in process. Kinesthetic anatomy. The dance that unfolds feels like my bones and body are exploring space and finding points of balance and momentum and stillness and extension. Alice alseep on the chair in the study.
