Puppets dancing Puppets at the Jam
7:30 to 7:45 p.m. Watching contact improvisers lift and be lifted. I watch their bodies lilt and lean and fall. Falling into gravity. They are like life size puppets in each others hands. Ariel plays the accordion. The energy is vibrant. Sizzling. I watch and draw in amazement. My drawings are scrawls on the back sides of pages from Rachel Prentice’s essay on “mutual articulation” in Social Studies of Science.
Home now. Alice in my lap, pressing her head into my arm as I type. It’s a gorgeous, clear night. Half moon high and bright. Orion belted with sword angling across the sky. It’s freezing. -15 degrees Celsius and falling.
