Foot dancing
4:15 p.m. A five minute foot dance in bed with my feet up against the wall. I’m laying in bed with the flu and after a sleepless night of aching joints and limbs I realize that I need to elevate my legs get my circulation going. I nap with my legs up, and sleep lightly for awhile. Then I shift position and craft a little dance with my feet to animate the late afternoon shadows that are long against the wall. Arching and flexing my feet, I can feel all my muscles and sinews stretch and strain. Lots of pain, but also awakening. I can feel the blood and toxins rushing downwards. I rest for awhile, totally winded. This is an amazing flu. But I like the little dances that are coming out of it. Dances in bed. Alice is downstairs basking in the afternoon sun. It is a gorgeous, cool day. I haven’t been outside yet since Monday.
