Leafing
On assignment from Debra: Dance with something growing.
10:30 p.m. A one minute leafing in the hall with a houseplant. Variegated, glossy leaves that hover, buoyant on dark, hidden, arched stems. I feel the leaf form with my back body. The centre point of the leaf blade reverberates with an energetic centre between my shoulder blades. Arms arched and curved behind me, I feel the convex to concave curvings of the leaf surface. Tracing the variegated pattens and crisp lines of this almost succulant plant. Alice is on the deck, calling out to me while I draw. It was full on spring again today. It’s a lovely, cooling, clear night.
