dance #102, half-moon
Thursday April 2, 2009
On assignment from Debra: Dance with a cosmic body.
Half-moon
11:00 p.m. A 2 minute dance on the patio. Facing west, I watch the half moon waxing over the city. It was a new moon March 26. The sky is scattered with clouds and the city night is abuzz with sound and light. I dance with arms swooping, catching, and pulling, tracing the angle and arc of the curving moon. The movement bends time: slow, fast, slow. Rubato. Alice is on the porch with me, watching the door while I dance. It was a gorgeous spring day, followed by a lovley night.
