Woodland nymphs

7:30 p.m. A dance with Gayle at the Wednesday night Jam at Dovercourt House. “Our dances are so elemental,” she tells me. Our other dances have been air or water. This one was definitely a woodland dance. Ariel is playing the flute. Our bodies have density. Hips leaning into hips. Full weight flows into flourishes of lightness. Bodies pulling bodies into and out of and off of centre. Ripples through weighty bodies, bringing them lightness. Delightful. Alice is happy to have me home after a long day. It is a beautiful evening. Clear skies. An almost-full moon hangs high and bright.
