Sensing soundings
9:35 p.m. A five minute dance in the study. Listening to the wind. Gusts and billowing rushes around buildings and trees. Low, deep soundings. I stand facing east. My fingers explore soundings on their palms. Each hand producing its own range of sounds. Skin on skin soundings. Rough and smooth. Hollow sounds. Swishing sounds. Fingers percussive. Loose snaps. Billowing gestures. Arms moving. Hands to ears. Cilia inside ears as kinds of excitable tissues. Soundings excite more movements. Rhythms rolling off fingers. Eyes closed. Senses roaming. Half of me is outside listening in the wind. Alice was downstairs in the living room. Listening? It was a beautiful, sunny day. Cool and windy. This morning I went running for the first time in years. I wonder if I’ll be able to walk tomorrow.
