Pedagogical gestures
4-6 p.m. Etienne teaches selections from A Thousand Plateaus. Twelve gather in the living room ready to learn what’s possible inside this text. The dance that ensues is at times confronting, excitatory, excitable, and bouyant. He moves from the chair next to me, to a spot on the floor. I watch the dance from behind. Rhizomes, multiplicities, anexactitudes, and abstractions, each enfleshed through their own enunciative gestures. Elastic energies pull through hands and arms and eyes and body. Leaning into the space of inquiry, angling to draw concepts out of newly forming mouths, drawing dense text into new lines of flight enfleshed. Alice is here with me now. It’s after midnight. She’s on top of the book while I write trying to chew the pencil. We have our own little dance. It was a stunning day.
