Articulated/articulating
10:30 p.m. A 6 minute dance in the study. I start without an idea or concept. I start with movement to generate thought. This is a shift–it seems I need to move before I can think. The dance that gets articulated is configured through this newly articulated body — a body in transformation as I become runner. New muscular articulations allow me to articulate new energies and forces. To make new kinds of propositions, to propose new lines of flight through movement. The dance is staccato and rhythmic. Wide stance. I feel like a boxer. Lunging. Jabbing. Aggressive. Feeling the sinews taut in my mid-body. Exhaling on each outward thrust. Alice left the room earlier. She just cried out from downstairs. It’s raining lightly and its cooled down since my run this afternoon. I have Santogold’s song “Creator” running through me as rhythmic memory while I move.
