Undercurrents
7-8:00 p.m. A waking dream. Clear as day, I experience being pulled under water, flowing with a current downstream. Feet first, arms long, trailing behind me. I’m swept up in the undercurrents of a rushing river. Blue, soft, powerful water. No need to come up for air. I am pulled through and hurled over a waterfall. I land on rocks below and my limp body is rocked rhythmically up against rocks in a pool carved out by falling water. Later in the dream I swim head first down to the river bed and move slowly across the bottom. This was a very strange day. Just down my street, five houses caught fire in a four-alarm blaze. It was a grey, cool, blustery day. Alice is calm now, but was crying lots earlier.
