Prelude to the Solstice VI: Dancing for my garden
11:00 p.m. A 10 minute dance on the patio under a thinly overcast sky. Night is bright and thick with the din of city life. A churning. Alive. The dance pulls upwards, drawing energy up from the roots. I feel witchy. Composing the energy of the plants. Limbs long, arms tethered and arcing across the city scape. Scoring the sky and the tissues of the plants. I pull the plants upwards to nurture their growth.
Alice is on the patio with me, delighting in the night. She paces along the perimeter of the patio, perching on the fence posts, navigating tree fronds, sounding out the night. She wants to play while I draw, but is quiet while I post. The day was bright, the sun warming my back. My garden grows.
