dance #198, ordinary affects take 3: mild panic
Monday July 6, 2009
Round midnight, Inn at Penn, Pennsylvania. First night on the road. Spent one full hour panicking in front of my new miniature laptop searching for files that never got transferred. Panic rises. Muscles tense, contort. Disbelief, anxiety. Physicality of human computer interactions are made manifest. Hunched over this tiny machines making tiny gestures across the keyboard to effect the magic of conjuring that which is not there. Suddenly the files appear. It takes me a while to come down from a state of duress. Rapid planning, reworking, reorienting shifts into ease. I relax, exhausted.
Philadelphia is warm under hot sun. Hope Alice is doing well.
