Walking meditation
7:30 a.m. Walking in the Zendo. My last zazen before I depart this beautiful place. Step by step. Breath in, foot lifts. Breath out, foot descends. Gently articulating through my arches. Soft paws. Lifting, breathing, slow shifts from foot to foot. Weight gathers and disperses. Hands cupped in front of my sternum. Heat rising. Sensations in each breath. Belly rising up to throat. Opening. Eyes on the woman ahead. Cultivating compassion for the smallness of her movements. Finding my own pacing behind her. It’s a beautiful morning at Upaya. Birds. Clear light. Garden aglow after the rains.
