dance #221, counting stars in the courtyard
Wednesday July 29, 2009
11:15 p.m. Counting stars in a small slice of night sky in Budapest. A five minute architectural movement in the courtyard of the apartment building where we are staying. The sky is a small grey rectangle. I count 10 faint stars. Some flicker in and out of sight. The movements are upward, orchestrated by the tall walls and narrow sky. Arms raised, reaching and arching. Hands taught, ribs rotating. It was a muggy day. The air is thick and heavy in this town. The sun is hot.
