Ode to salt
9:20 p.m. The Second Floor Collective meets at Dovercourt House. I read Pablo Neruda’s poem “Ode to Salt” while Alo and Ana-Francisca dance. I look up from the text as Ana-Francisca puckers her mouth and generates a sound so sharp and sour I taste salt meeting lemon rind. Her whole face, her whole body, a taste bud puckering and sounding out saltiness. The dance plays on. An evening of reviving movement. Waning moon slung low as I bike home with Alo. Alice is chatty. Another beautiful, warm, sunny day.
