Palpate

7:30 p.m. At The Technoscience Salon, Rachel Prentice re-enacts a gesture she observed in her ethnographic fieldwork among gynecologists. Each time one particular gynecologist says the word palpate, her body moves into a gesture that articulates the haptic space of a pelvic exam. Rachel re-enacts the gesture again and again, leaning into the word “palpate.” The gesture propagates through the space as the audience re-enacts the re-enactment to pose new questions.

Alice calls out and drinks water. More sun today. Misty night.
