On assignment: Birthday Dance. On your birthday eat something delicious, wear something special and dance to a favorite song.

11:56 p.m. In the living room, I eat melted chocolate sweetened with agave, wearing a black vintage dress adorned with black satin roses, listening to “Cracklin’ Water” by Lisa Germano with OP8. I begin the dance with Alice. Holding her until she leaps out of my arms. I dance solo for awhile. Then Carlos joins in and the dance becomes a duet. We laugh together at the crazy lyrics. The dance is flowing. The dress feels beautiful to wear. It was a lovely day. Alice is playing with an insect while I draw and write. The night is grey. It is a new moon.
